Winter Concert Dec 23 -5

We have reached the end of what has been a wonderfully busy and enriching musical half term. Rehearsals for our orchestras, choirs and ensembles increased in their intensity as concerts and performances rapidly approached.

Straight after the half term break we held two solo recitals. The first featured our younger music scholars performing music including Violin Concerto by Kabalewski, Cygncopations by Elms and Nocturne in E major by Chopin. This was followed a week later by a Lunchtime Concert featuring music such as Cello Concerto by Saint-Saens, Speechless from Aladdin and Concerto in A minor by Bach, performed by students in Years 8 and 9. Our flute teacher, Mr Mitchell, led a concert of solo and ensemble flute music at the end of November.

Into December and we presented our highly anticipated Winter Concert featuring all of our orchestras, choirs and ensembles, presenting music including Cavalleria Rusticana, themes from Psycho and Thunderbirds as well as the Overture to the Barber of Seville. Rounding out the term was our lovely Carol Service featuring choral music by Berlioz and Britten. Best wishes for a fabulous holiday from the Music Department.
