Academic

Across the Junior School, the girls are fully engaged and enjoying their lessons and activities so much, they barely notice they’re learning! One week you might spot Victorian school costumes, a class listening to a visiting author, a film project underway, a tree survey in the grounds, or a team testing a Roman chariot they designed themselves.

Our ambitious academic programme, led by the Deputy Head (Academic), is delivered in an inspiring, scholarly, and nurturing environment. We strive to unlock each girl’s potential through a challenging, personalised curriculum that encourages curiosity and the confidence to take risks in learning.

The First School (Age 4-7)

From Reception, girls follow a full curriculum, quickly developing essential skills through expert and innovative teaching combined with dedicated pastoral care. Housed in its own building, the First School offers facilities designed with younger pupils in mind, including a library, hall, and playground. Here, the younger girls dive into learning with enthusiasm and a sense of adventure they carry through their whole school journey.

The Lower School (Age 7-11)

Girls joining in Year 3 settle swiftly into a welcoming and stimulating environment. The Lower School boasts spacious classrooms, science labs, a computer suite, an art studio, and a state-of-the-art library. The curriculum is broad and varied, covering modern languages, science and technology, history, geography, and even chess—going well beyond national expectations. From Year 5, specialist teachers join the team, and in Year 6, collaboration with Senior School staff ensures a smooth transition.
