Young Voices 1

With 2024 only a few weeks old we have already seen a number of fantastic music events take place in the Junior School.

On 16 January, NLCS Young Singers sang their hearts out at the world’s biggest children’s choir – Young Voices Concert at the O2 Arena in Greenwich. Accompanied by a full 7-piece live band made up of some of the UK’s leading musicians, backing singers, and an internationally acclaimed conductor  the sound of  10,000 children singing together was spine tingling. The whole evening was spectacular and one of the most exciting and memorable musical experiences our students will have ever been part of.

Thursday 18 January saw the Lower School enjoy an incredibly special music assembly titled the ‘Instruments Demo Assembly’. Our instrumental teachers, and talented student musicians Hannah and Molly played beautiful pieces and demonstrated their instruments. During the assembly, six woodwind and brass instruments were showcased to the students. The presentations ignited a spark of inspiration among many, as they eagerly await the opportunity to explore these instruments further through the upcoming free trial lessons.

On the same day,  Year 6 were treated to a Song Writing Workshop from Emily Barden. Emily is a highly sought-after composer and songwriter, specialising in vocal works for young people. Year 6 enjoyed a thoroughly inspiring session from Emily as they look forward to writing their own original song to perform in the end of year play.
