As we begin the Summer Term we say goodbye and thank you to our outgoing Senior Committee and welcome the new ‘Big Six’.

We welcome Amani (Senior Student), Oli (Sports Captain), Emma, Ruby, Solène & Sophia as the new Senior Committee who you can read all about below.

Hi everyone, I’m Amani, and I’m delighted to be your Senior Student this year. I am taking Chemistry, Biology, Philosophy and Mathematics at A Level and I hope to study Medicine at university. As an avid dancer, I thoroughly enjoy choreographing, teaching and performing in a wide variety of dance and drama productions at school. I also take pleasure in running the school’s science magazine with Sophia and organising a range of charity events with some of my peers. Outside school, I often spend my time playing the guitar, cooking with my sister, playing in my football team, and listening to music (I am always open to new song recommendations!) My top artists on Spotify are constantly changing, but this month they are The Beatles, Brenton Wood, and the Bee Gees. My favourite TV show would have to be House MD. I am really looking forward to getting to know each of you and hope we can help make the coming year a joyous and memorable one!

Hi everyone, I’m Oli and I’m so excited to be your new Sports Captain! Sport is such a big part of my life as is the NLCS community so I can’t wait to combine my passion for both. When I’m not involved in swimming, running, triathlons, netball or lacrosse, I’m studying for my Spanish, English and Politics A-levels. I hope to pursue Spanish & Politics at University and love getting involved in MFL events. You can always find me coaching sports for the Middle School, Junior School or helping out in the First School. Outside of school, I’m part of a Sports Leadership group and help coach at kid’s parties and summer camps and I am currently training to be a Swimming Teacher. I also love going out with friends and listening to Spanish music – my favourite artists would have to be Morat and Álvaro de Luna and my favourite TV series is Cable Girls. A fun fact about me is that I ran a half marathon on my 16th birthday!  I also took part in the Maccabiah Games last summer winning Gold with the U18 Netball Team. I’m really looking forward to being part of the Big Six and helping to bring more sport to the forefront of NLCS and championing all our successes on the pitch.

Hi, I’m Emma, and I am thrilled to be a member of your new Big Six! I am studying English, Politics, and Italian for A-Level, alongside an EPQ, and hope to study English at university – I am a huge fan of all things book-related and aspire to publish my own in the future. I love to participate in all areas of school life, from helping in the First School to taking part in plays and musicals (a particular passion of mine – my favourite musical is Little Shop of Horrors!) to running my own poetry magazine. Most of my time outside of school is spent dancing or walking my dog, and a fun fact about me is that I also love to ski. I am so looking forward to getting to know the whole school community and cannot wait to discover what this year has in store!

Hi everyone, I’m Ruby, and I’m so excited to be one of your new Big Six members! I’m an IB student, taking History, Politics and Spanish as my higher levels – I would love to go into something that allows me to use all of these subjects in different ways, such as a lawyer, or civil service. I greatly enjoy my role as Editor of the school’s politics magazine, The Politician, where we engage in a range of political topics from across the globe, and I love to get involved in all aspects of the school, from drama to netball, to dance, to attending all of the societies on offer. I’m also passionate about musical theatre, and my favourite production is Wicked. I also love watching shows such as Sherlock and Bridgerton and am a huge Marvel fan, my favourite movie is Doctor Strange. I can’t wait to get to know you all and I’m really looking forward to the year ahead.

Hi, I’m Solène, and I’m very excited for the year ahead as a member of your Big Six. I’m an IB student taking Chemistry, Maths and Biology at higher level and am interested in studying Chemistry at university. Although I focus on sciences, I am passionate about literature and art, and run the school’s arts magazine, entitled Archipelago, as well as Mad Hatters for the middle school. I also love being part of school plays and productions, and one of my best memories at NLCS has to be performing in Legally Blonde. I enjoy reading, dancing ballet, and painting in my free time, as well as listening to music. My favourite artists right now are David Bowie and Yo La Tengo, and I love all of Wes Anderson’s films, a particular favourite being Moonrise Kingdom. This year, I hope the Big Six helps to bring joy and fun to everyone in the school community. See you around!

Hi, I’m Sophia and I am delighted to be a part of this year’s Big Six! I am an IB student taking Maths, Biology and Chemistry at Higher Level, looking to go into Biochemistry in the future. I have the pleasure of running the Science magazine, SCIENTIA, with our Senior Student, Amani, leading Chemistry Club for the Sixth Form, and mentoring younger students in Mathematics and Biology. Beyond the academic sphere, I enjoy attending Feminist Society sessions, playing the piano and going to the gym. I also love performing in school productions – one of my favourites was starring in a student-directed and student-written play we put on at NLCS in October 2022 called ‘Seven Minutes and a Dolphin’. I love film too – my favourite movies are The French Dispatch and Mamma Mia, two very different genres but equally as enjoyable! I am incredibly excited to get to know the whole school community and see what this year brings!
