From 19th June to 24th June, we went away on Adventure Week to Edale in the Peak District; a eagerly anticipated trip that has proved the highlight of Year 9.

It was an exciting trip that gave us the opportunity to try new activities, step outside of our comfort zones, and face up to our fears, whether that was through our muddy but awe-inspiring cave explorations, the adrenaline rush from abseiling, or the initially daunting challenge of weaselling. We explored, collaborated, and improved our teamwork and communication skills, which helped us cultivate a stronger bond and sense of unity as a year group. The peaceful landscape of the rolling hills and flourishing wildlife helped us to experience a change of scene from the usual bustle of school life and feel at one with nature.

Our days were also filled with fun, engaging group activities; archery team games, orienteering challenges, and the collaborative task of reaching the top of Jacob’s Ladder, to name a few! Despite prior worries or fears, as a group, with one another’s support, along with the encouragement from the humorous YHA Edale staff and our group leaders, we all embraced the challenges. For me, the highlights of the trip were canoeing, abseiling, playing games, jumping off the diving board for a cooling swim, and a fast, thrilling ride down the bridge with a partner. The group karaoke sessions we enjoyed on our coach journeys, and the very entertaining Batman & Robin game were all fun, unforgettable moments. Thank you so much to everyone that helped organise Adventure Week – I have made memories that will stay with me for many years to come, and if I could go on it again, I would!
