Healthy Eating Day

2 December 2021

On Thursday students across the Senior School enjoyed workshops and talks on the topic of healthy eating from our school caterers, Chartwells Independent.

In the morning the main hall was turned into a ‘Ready Steady Cook’ style kitchen as Year 7 and 8 students were treated to a healthy eating workshop. The workshop began with a talk on the key to a balanced diet, breaking down each food group individually before students got to try their hands at cooking a healthy meal that contained all elements of the ‘Eatwell guide’.

Two teams battled it out with both cooking different dishes in only 15 minutes! the red team rustled up a delicious sweet potato curry whilst the green team made a fantastic veggie chilli burrito. Students had the opportunity to be chefs, reviewers and tasters before the entire audience were able to vote on their favourite dish!

Later on in the day Year 11 and Sixth Form students heard from Olivia, a nutritionist from Chartwells. Olivia spoke about the importance of a healthy and balanced diet before discussing in more detail the positive impact a good diet can have on your own mental health.

Many thanks to Chartwells for delivering these fantastic talks and workshops.
