On Monday, Canons Choir made the exciting journey to London to perform at Barnardo’s Young Supporters ‘Earth Wonder’ concert at the renowned Royal Albert Hall.
This momentous occasion came on the heels of their triumphant victory earlier in the year, clinching the top honours at the Barnardo’s National Choral Competition Junior Category.
Supported by the world-famous Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, Canons Choir joined young singers from across the UK to raise vital funds for the Barnardo’s Christmas poverty appeal. The 25 choirs present performed a number of joint choral pieces and enjoyed orchestral performances spanning Debussy and Dvoràk to ELO and Coldplay.
Canons Choir were invited to perform their winning piece and, guided by the fantastic Mrs Cox who conducted from the podium, captivated the audience with their beautiful harmonies and depth of emotion as the notes of Eric Whitacre’s enchanting The Seal Lullaby filled the hall.
We are extremely proud of the performance by Canons Choir and this extraordinary musical experience will be a memory much treasured by all of those who took part.
