Last week marked a significant milestone as NLCS hosted its inaugural IB Showcase evening, commemorating 20 years of the International Baccalaureate.

The event was a testament to the enduring legacy of the IB programme, drawing together students, staff, ONLs, and guests in a celebration of academic excellence.

The evening began with a talk from Director of IB, Dr Linscott, whose insights conveyed the transformative power of the IB curriculum. Mrs Bingham spoke about the importance of the IB to the school as a whole, and the unique opportunities that the innovative qualification offers to students. The breadth of the programme was further explored by Mr Hadley who illustrated the way CAS (creativity, activity and service) enhances student development.

We were also delighted to welcome back former student, Berenika Kotelko, from the Class of 2017. Berenika reflected on her own IB journey, sharing engaging anecdotes and insights into how the programme had not only shaped her academic path, but also opened doors to a myriad of career opportunities.

Following the talks, guests had the pleasure of viewing the work of the current IB cohort. From original artwork, to thought-provoking essays exploring complex topics, the showcase demonstrated the high level of independent research undertaken by the students, who were on hand to discuss their work with the guests.

As the evening concluded, it was evident that the IB Showcase had not only celebrated 20 years of academic excellence but also served as a testament to the enduring spirit of inquiry, innovation, and community that defines NLCS and its commitment to a holistic education.
