QUESTIONS ABOUT GIVING?

How does my gift make a difference? accordion-plus

Every gift, no matter the size, directly supports our work in providing an exceptional education for girls. Your contribution can fund key areas like bursaries that open our doors to talented students, or resources that enrich every girl’s experience both in and beyond the classroom. We are committed to showing you the impact of your generosity through our annual reports and donor stories.

How can I give tax-efficiently from the UK or US? accordion-plus

If you are a UK taxpayer, you can increase the value of your gift by 25% at no extra cost to you by making a Gift Aid declaration. NLCS can reclaim the basic rate of tax from HMRC on your donation. Our Gift Aid declaration can be found here .

For our supporters living in the US, you can donate to NLCS via the British Schools & Universities Foundation (BSUF). Alternatively, the CAF American Donor Fund (CADF) allows US/UK dual taxpayers to claim Gift Aid (which can increase the value of gifts by up to 25%) and qualify for a tax deduction in the UK and in the US. Both organisations have been determined by the United States Internal Revenue Service to be tax-exempt public charities with 501(c)(3) status.

Can I support more than one area? accordion-plus

Yes, absolutely. Our online donation form allows you to split your gift across different areas, such as bursaries, capital projects and the Work in Hope Fund. You can also specify an unrestricted gift, which allows us to direct your support to where the need is greatest at the time.

What are your fundraising principles? accordion-plus

We are committed to transparent, ethical and respectful fundraising. We are registered with the Fundraising Regulator, a body that sets and maintains the standards for charitable fundraising in the UK. We adhere to the Fundraising Code of Practice and our own Ethical Giving Policy, ensuring that we are open, honest and respectful in all our interactions with you.

How do I arrange a major gift? accordion-plus

If you are considering a significant donation, we would be delighted to speak with you personally. A major gift can be a powerful way to make a lasting impact on an area you are passionate about. Please contact Shree Junk, Director of Philanthropy and Alumnae Relations sjunk@nlcs.org.uk to arrange a confidential conversation with a member of our team.

How can I include NLCS in my Will? accordion-plus

Leaving a Gift in your Will is a wonderful way to support the future of NLCS. These legacy gifts help us to plan for the long term and secure our future. Click here to read more about Gifts in Wills that support the School. For a confidential discussion, please contact the Development Office. We can provide you with the correct wording and information to share with your solicitor.

Can I donate my daughter’s leavers’ deposit to the School? accordion-plus

In recent years, a quiet but powerful tradition has emerged: many families choose to mark the end of their NLCS journey by donating their deposit to the Bursary Fund — a gesture of thanks, and a way of passing on the gift of an NLCS education.

As Frances Mary Buss envisioned, NLCS strives to provide an “education fitting her gifts.” We believe that such an education should be open to any girl of promise, not just privilege. By choosing to donate your deposit, you help make that possible.

If you prefer to have the deposit returned, you’ll simply need to provide your bank details at the appropriate time — we’ll be in touch near the end of your daughter’s final year to guide you through either option.
