What will students experience?
Students will hear from a number of distinguished academic speakers who will deliver lectures on complex philosophical themes, offering insights from cutting-edge research and diverse schools of thought. They will have the opportunity to engage directly with these experts through high-level Q&A sessions, encouraging them to think critically, challenge assumptions, and refine their own ideas. Throughout the Conference, students will collaborate with peers from many schools in discussions, breakout tasks, and reflective activities designed to deepen their understanding of key philosophical problems. The event aims to stretch their reasoning skills, broaden their intellectual horizons, and cultivate confidence in engaging with advanced academic material.
What do students need to bring or prepare?
Students should bring a notebook, pens, and any materials they typically use for academic lectures, (we request that no electronic device are used throughout). No formal pre-work is required, but students are encouraged to come prepared with curiosity and a willingness to engage in high-level discussion. They may also wish to think in advance about philosophical questions or themes they’d like to raise during Q&A sessions.
Why take part?
The Conference provides a unique opportunity for students to grapple with Philosophy at a genuinely advanced level, guided by leading academics in the field. By participating, students sharpen their analytical thinking, develop their ability to construct and challenge arguments, and experience a dynamic academic environment beyond their own school, making the event an exceptional enrichment opportunity for any aspiring philosopher.
