NLCS Futures

THEIR AMBITION, EXPERTLY SUPPORTED

NLCS Futures represents a long runway that starts early, built on widening ideas, thoughtful exploration and direction setting and building the confidence in our girls for them to put themselves forward to succeed in their chosen paths. Our approach is shaped by three pillars that apply to both higher education and careers:

OUR PROGRAMME

DISCOVERY accordion-plus

This track widens horizons through increasing academic depth and exposure to diverse careers and pathways. Pupils learn how the world of work is changing so they can discover what genuinely excites them about their future, where their strengths lie, and which doors they might want to open.

DIRECTION accordion-plus

The Direction strand of the programme supports students in moving from broad exploration to well-founded decision-making about their next steps. We help the girls turn their ambition into advantage as pupils learn how to choose with judgement, begin to shape their story with substance and practise thinking flexibly under pressure. Pupils are stretched by big ideas and start to explore them in intellectual depth within their subject areas and PSHE. They are encouraged to evaluate options critically, interrogate assumptions, and make judgements on the basis of evidence, supported by sustained mentoring and careful preparation.

DISTINCTION accordion-plus

The Distinction strand supports students in translating ambition into strong outcomes in an increasingly competitive landscape. Each student is guided by an Academic Subject Mentor and from Sixth form are bolstered with a specialist team with expertise across Oxbridge entry, UK, US and European pathways, degree apprenticeships and gap years. This ensures advice is individualised, precise and grounded in current admissions and pathway requirements. With current insight into university admissions and employer selection processes, students learn to present their academic interests, experiences and achievements through structured preparation and repeated practice. We also use Unifrog to help students capture and reflect on their wider development over time, including enrichment, responsibilities and experiences that contribute to character, so their applications are grounded in an accurate, thoughtful account of who they are and how they have grown.
