The inaugural Year 8 Philosothon House Championship was a truly inspiring day-long celebration of philosophy, dialogue, and intellectual curiosity.
Throughout the competition, students demonstrated remarkable growth in their ability to question, reason, and engage thoughtfully with one another. It was particularly rewarding to witness the quality of discussion reach such a high standard that, in the final rounds, students confidently drew upon the ideas of Socrates, Heraclitus, Zeno, and Bentham to support and challenge arguments with sophistication and insight.
The championship showcased not only philosophical knowledge but also the virtues at the heart of great dialogue: careful listening, respectful disagreement, and collaborative enquiry. Every participant should be immensely proud of the maturity, confidence, and intellectual courage they displayed throughout the day.
A special congratulations to Artemis House, who made history by becoming the inaugural Year 8 Philosothon House Champions—a remarkable achievement and a fitting reward for an outstanding performance.
