Y6 France Trip

Year 6 pupils recently returned from a week long residential trip to Maison Claire Fontaine in the heart of Burgundy, describing it as an unforgettable experience filled with adventure, creativity and friendship.

During their stay, the girls explored the local culture with visits to a traditional French market and the historic hilltop town of Vézelay, renowned for its stunning architecture and rich heritage. These excursions gave pupils the opportunity to immerse themselves in the region’s history while developing independence and curiosity.

The residential programme also offered a wide range of hands on activities. Students tried archery, developed culinary skills in cookery sessions and created their own pieces in mosaic workshops. A highlight for many was the tree adventure course, which challenged pupils physically and mentally, as well as a circus skills session led by a professional performer, where the girls learned new skills and techniques.

Beyond the organised activities, the trip allowed pupils plenty of time to relax and enjoy each other’s company. Free time was spent playing table football and table tennis, laughing on the swings or chatting together on the centre’s field.

The residential at Maison Claire Fontaine is widely regarded as one of the defining experiences of Junior School life, and this year’s trip was no exception. Staff noted the joy and confidence shown by the pupils throughout the week, as well as the lasting memories they brought home.

The school also extended its thanks to Maison Claire Fontaine for providing such a special experience and helping to create memories that will stay with the girls for years to come.
