Year 5 girls took part in the Music for Youth BBC Ten Pieces Creative Project at the Music for Youth Prom at the Royal Albert Hall.
The girls performed one of the favourite BBC Ten Pieces, “No Place Like” by Kerry Andrew, as well as the well-known “Mambo’ from West Side Story.
The most exciting part of the evening was singing the world premiere of a brand-new piece by composer Aileen Sweeney, with text by poet Iona Lee, inspired by the legendary tale of the Giant’s Causeway. The piece is commissioned in partnership with BBC, ABRSM and the Royal Albert Hall as part of the BBC Ten Pieces project.
With a 450-strong children’s choir, full orchestra, and a troop of dancers, this epic retelling brought myth to music in spectacular style. Rooted in the powerful and timeless theme of folklore, it was a true highlight of the event – an unforgettable experience for performers and audiences alike.
