Year 3 spent their first few weeks of term not just getting used life in the Lower School but working together to put on their first play as a year group.
They brought our first half of term to a close with their wonderful play ‘The Magician’s Daughter’. Mrs Rushbrook’s dramatisation of the fairytale by Evelyn Sharpe and Mary Sebag-Montefiore follows Firefly the daughter of a magician who doesn’t want to do as her father expects and learn magic. After a chance encounter with a prince who needs to save his village from a hungry giant, Firefly realises that her imagination is her very own kind of magic, and that she will find her happy ever after not by marrying a prince but by developing her talents.
Each girl sang and acted with great skill and confidence, playing characters who were very different from themselves and working beautifully as a team. We could hardly believe that only a few weeks earlier they hadn’t even known their way to Budge Square!
