Hot off the press comes our latest report from the Independent Schools Inspectorate, issued following our routine inspection in April.

ISI sends inspection teams into independent schools every three years to evaluate the effectiveness of the education provided, including co-curricular enrichment, as well as the wellbeing of pupils and their engagement in the community inside and outside school. Inspectors also audit compliance with the various regulations and requirements that govern the work of all schools.

We are very pleased with the inspection team’s findings, which give a strong endorsement for all aspects of the education we provide and the wellbeing and engagement of our pupils at every stage of the School. The inspection also identifies NLCS as being fully compliant with all regulatory requirements, with best practice in place across the board.

From September 2023, ISI no longer offers single-word gradings of schools, such as ‘Excellent’ which NLCS received at its previous routine inspection. Instead, there is a more nuanced evaluative commentary across the various aspects of a school’s provision. We are delighted that the inspectors have highlighted many distinctive features of an NLCS education. To quote a few of these from the report:

• Pupils are encouraged to be bold and explorative learners
• Pupils have a positive attitude to learning…combining intellectual curiosity and eloquent self-expression…their determination to achieve highly
• Pupils’ emotional needs are looked after well
• Pupils are proud of their school…a cohesive and inclusive school community
• An extensive co-curricular programme enriches pupils’ experiences of school life
• Pupils behave responsibly and display considerable maturity
• Leaders and governors have a clear vision for the school

Please have a look at this summary of the inspection findings:

We are also thrilled to be celebrating our recent International Baccalaureate Evaluation which all IB World Schools undergo every five years. The report itself is not for publication but the findings are glowing and help to confirm NLCS’s position as a centre of excellence for the IB. Among many reasons to choose NLCS for the IB, we have the distinction of being the number one school for IB results in the UK in 2023!
