Reception enjoyed a wonderful and memorable day at Willows Activity Farm, linked closely to their topic of Growth in Understanding the World.
Throughout the visit, the girls were immersed in a wide range of hands-on experiences that brought their learning to life. They discovered fascinating facts about farm animals, particularly pigs, and were especially excited to learn how a cow is milked, gaining a real insight into life on a working farm.
There were plenty of opportunities to interact with the animals, and the girls loved feeding them, as well as gently holding and caring for the guinea pigs. A highlight of the day was the tractor ride, which gave everyone a chance to explore more of the farm and added to the sense of adventure. There was also an unexpected and entertaining moment when the farmer had to herd an escaped cow back to safety, which the girls watched with great interest.
The fun continued with the lively sheep racing, where everyone enthusiastically cheered on their chosen colour. Despite their loud support for the blue sheep, it was the orange sheep that raced ahead to claim victory!
Overall, it was a fantastic day filled with excitement, curiosity and laughter. The trip not only deepened the girls’ understanding of growth and life on a farm but also created lasting memories that they will continue to talk about back at school.
