Girls from both First and Lower School enjoyed Outdoor Learning Days, making the most of the school grounds with a range of activities

The First School girls kicked off their day in the woods, where they built an imaginative Echo Village using sticks and leaves to create homes for the Learning Friends. They then took part in an orienteering trail around the school, solving challenges and practising map reading along the way.

At the pond, the girls sketched peaceful watercolour scenes and got up close to pond creatures Mrs Bedford had caught. They also explored environmental science with a simple experiment about what can and can’t be flushed, discovering that “flushable” wipes don’t break down properly. This led to a group decision to stop using them.
To finish, each girl made a personal pledge to help the planet. These promises now decorate the Pledge Wall in the First School Hall.

Lower School girls also embraced the outdoors with plenty of creative activities. They tried their hand at orienteering, built miniature tipis for teddy bears from natural materials, sketched the scenery, and wrote poems inspired by nature. The day also included taking part in the RSPB Birdwatch, giving the girls a chance to observe and appreciate local birds.
