On Tuesday, we were incredibly fortunate to hear from Marc Cave the Director of the National Holocaust Centre & Museum for a talk entitled “The Holocaust as a contemporary social issue”.
The National Holocaust Centre & Museum is the only place of Holocaust remembrance and learning in the world set up by Christians. Founded in 1995, its exhibitions, collections, testimonies, films and interactive experiences have prestigious ‘National Portfolio’ museum status with Arts Council England.
Using a variety of photographic and filmic references, Marc explained how the Holocaust was not an isolated one-off but part of an unbroken chain of anti-Jewish racism embedded deep into society for 2,000 years… and counting. Only a systemic conspiracy theory, held by millions of ordinary people across a whole continent and down through the generations, could have enabled genocide of such systemised enormity.
Many thanks to Marc for his deeply engaging and thought-provoking talk.
