As another fantastic academic year draws to a close, it is the perfect opportunity to reflect on a wonderful summer term and celebrate everything the girls have achieved in sport. It has been a term full of enthusiasm, teamwork, determination and above all, enjoyment, with the girls embracing every opportunity to get involved.
Cricket
Our summer sports programme has been hugely successful, with participation levels higher than ever and the girls thoroughly enjoying the variety of activities on offer. Cricket has been a real highlight of the term, with girls from across the Junior School developing their batting, bowling and fielding skills with increasing confidence. We have enjoyed a busy fixture programme, playing against Manor Lodge, Belmont and Beechwood Park. Every match was played in an excellent spirit, with the girls demonstrating superb teamwork, resilience and sportsmanship. It has been particularly pleasing to see so many girls grow in confidence throughout the season, whether they were playing in their first fixture or building on previous experience.
Gymnastics and Cheer Display
One of the standout moments of the term was our Gymnastics and Cheer Display, which showcased the incredible talent, commitment and confidence of our pupils. With over 50 girls from across the Junior School taking part, the event was a wonderful celebration of the hard work they have put in throughout the year. A particularly special moment was seeing some of our Junior School girls perform alongside the Senior School gymnasts and cheerleaders, giving them the opportunity to share the floor with older pupils and highlighting the strong sense of community across the school.
This term also featured two brilliant Sports Days, which this year saw an exciting new format. The revised structure gave every pupil equal opportunity to take part, compete and contribute to their colour team, creating an inclusive and engaging experience for all. Throughout both events, the girls demonstrated impressive determination, resilience and sportsmanship across a wide range of track and field activities.
Rainbow Sports Day
Our First School Rainbow Sports Day was a fantastic celebration of participation, teamwork and fun. The children made their way around a carousel of exciting activities, collecting valuable points for their colour teams while encouraging one another every step of the way. The atmosphere was full of energy, laughter and smiling faces, with every child embracing the opportunity to be active and represent their team. A particular highlight was the introduction of the brand-new Superhero Race, which was an instant success and certainly added plenty of excitement to the day. Congratulations to the White Team, who finished as this year’s Rainbow Sports Day champions.
Lower School Sports Day was another fantastic event, which saw the girls rotate around the events in their year groups, competing for their colour teams throughout the afternoon. This allowed every pupil to contribute to their team’s overall score while experiencing a wide range of events. There were some outstanding individual performances, closely contested races and fantastic displays of determination. The encouragement and support the girls showed one another was fantastic to see. A highlight was the girls coming together at the end for a whole school colour team relay. Congratulations to the Red Team for being crowned this year’s champions
Looking ahead, we are excited for another fantastic year filled with many sporting opportunities for the girls. With netball returning in full swing in the autumn term, alongside raising the profile of football and lacrosse, the girls will continue developing their confidence and enjoyment of sport. We can’t wait to see what the next academic year brings for sport in the Junior school!
