From sprinting to cricketing successes, our students are making waves across multiple sports this term. With standout performances at the Harrow Athletics Championship, impressive victories in tennis tournaments, and a strong cricket campaign, it’s shaping up to be a season to remember.

Athletics

The athletics team had a great start to the season with many wins at the Harrow Athletics Championship with several pupils being selected to represent Harrow at the Middlesex Schools Athletics Championships later this term.

We continue to enjoy guesting in the Herts League which is a high standard of athletics and allows the girls much needed practice on a full track.

We have competed in the first round of the Track and Field Cup both the U14 and U16 performed superbly, gaining over 15 points more than last year and coming second in the group stages. We are waiting to hear if they have qualified to the A or B Regional final. There were some outstanding individual results, with pupils scoring the highest individual points ever for the school. A score of 40 is usually impressive but we had girls reaching 50 points, also achieving their personal bests.

Tennis

The season is off to a strong start, marked by an excellent level of participation across all squad sessions. Team players from Year 7, 8, 9, and 10 have delivered impressive performances in the Middlesex LTA Youth Schools Tournament and the School Sport magazine Tournament where we are through to the second round. The girls also competed in the Nationals Girls Schools Tournament at Wycombe Abbey School where we progressed through to the knockout stages. The girls are competing at a high level and are demonstrating significant level skill.

The school’s internal tennis events have also been well-received. The Pamela Flower Invitational Singles Tournament is showcasing exceptional performances, while the Year Group Doubles Tournament, incorporating over 60 pairs, is highlighting excellent teamwork.

Looking ahead to the next half term, we anticipate further competitive matches and continued development of our players both tactically technically which is aided by our new Professional Tennis coach, Jaimie.

Cricket

The cricket season has started strongly, with both the U13 and U15 teams securing wins in the first round of the county cup. Several friendlies have also been played against local schools, giving players plenty of match experience. There have been some outstanding individual performances, including two half-centuries, a superb 119-run opening partnership, and a brilliant hat-trick. The new practice nets are proving popular and are now being used two to three times each week, while daily squad practices continue to build skills and team spirit across all age groups. With plenty of home and away fixtures lined up for next term, there’s lots more cricket to look forward to.
