It has been a thrilling half-term for North London Collegiate School (NLCS) athletes, with impressive performances across various sports. From badminton to lacrosse, students have demonstrated remarkable dedication and skill, bringing home victories and personal achievements.

Badminton

NLCS badminton squads continue to dominate in the Middlesex and Hertfordshire leagues, with the U15 and U16 teams remaining undefeated. The school is currently competing in two national cups. In the School Sports Magazine National Cup, the KS3 team has secured a spot in the national semi-final, while the KS4 team has progressed to the regional finals of the Badminton England National Schools Championship after winning the Middlesex round.

Football

The NLCS U12 and U13 football teams have played several matches against local schools this half-term. Each game has been closely contested, highlighting the players’ growing skills and determination. The teams continue to develop, showing great promise for the future.

Swimming

The NLCS swimming team competed in two galas this term, securing victories against Habs and John Lyon School. Over 50 students from Years 7 to 10 participated, with a strong turnout from Year 9 and 10 students eager to challenge themselves. The school is introducing an early morning swim session on Tuesdays (7:45–8:25 am) after half-term, adding to the existing Monday lunchtime and Wednesday after-school sessions. A dedicated group of senior swimmers also contribute by assisting with galas and timekeeping.

Netball

A special congratulations to Miss Adio for representing the England Roses in the Nations Cup and winning the Vitality Player of the Match award. The school looks forward to supporting her in the Netball Super League for London Pulse.

Cross-Country

NLCS runners had a busy half-term, with notable results at the Harrow Cross-Country Championships. The Minor Girls team finished second, while the Junior team claimed first place. Thirteen runners were selected to represent Harrow at the Middlesex Championships, where the Minors secured third place and the Inters finished fourth.

A special mention goes to Jiatan, who has been selected to represent Middlesex in the Senior Girls’ race at the English Schools Cross Country Championships in 2025—an incredible achievement!

Looking ahead, the Junior School, Year 7, and Year 8 teams are preparing for their first road relay, hosted by St. Martin’s School next week.

Athletics

The U12 and U13 teams participated in the Harrow Indoor Athletics Competition, both winning their tournaments and securing spots in the next round. The U12 team advanced to the finals at Redbridge Sports Centre in March, while the U13 team is yet to compete in their qualifiers. Their dedication and preparation have been commendable, marking a strong start to the athletics season.

Lacrosse

NLCS lacrosse teams have had an action-packed half-term, finishing with a 5-9 record. A major highlight was the senior team’s impressive performance at the South East Schools Tournament, where their determination was widely recognised.
