We are delighted that our sports teams have achieved a number of successes over the past weeks, following two years of disrupted competitions and tournaments.
This week our U14,15,16 and 19’s played in the Middlesex Netball finals at Lady Eleanor Holles School (LEH) in Hampton. All four-year groups successfully qualified for the finals back in October. Our U16’s won all six of their games and were crowned Middlesex champions for 2022.
Congratulations also to our Year 7 and 8’s who played at Highgate School on Tuesday in their first Middlesex Tournament.
Congratulations to Marisa and Lily who competed in the Public Schools Fencing Competition on Tuesday 15 March. They had a very successful but long day, securing some significant victories throughout the competition. Marisa successfully navigated her way through the first round of elimination poules (20% of people eliminated) and was ranked 5th and after 2nd round of poules (25% eliminated after) ranked 8th. Overall, Marisa secured a ranking 6th place after poules. She then went into direct elimination and won her first-round 15-0 but then lost the second round 15-13 to come 6th overall. Lily produced an exceptional performance throughout securing some valuable points and finishing 18th overall. Well done to both Lily and Marisa for competing in this National competition.
On Saturday our Year 7 and Year 8 Lacrosse squads travelled to LEH to compete in the Tri-County Championship. On the back of a positive season of returning to play, NLCS was the only school to field three teams in the Year 7 category proving that sport for our students is as popular as ever. All five teams held their own against the veritable lacrosse power houses of Wycombe Abbey and LEH producing some fast-flowing and exciting end to end Lacrosse. Overall, the results were positive and a testament to the hard work and passion that our students bring to all that do. The U12C squad finished in 5th place, the U12B team in 4th and the U12A squad secured a Bronze Medal with 3rd place. Whilst the U13A and U13 B squad secured a laudable 4th place in their respective competitions. Well done to all students and staff and we are looking forward to the National Schools competitions this weekend.
