On Friday, 6 December, a group of dedicated Sixth Form students from NLCS took to the streets of Central London for a cause that hits close to home for many — raising awareness of homelessness. The students participated in a sleep-out event organised in partnership with the homelessness charity Restart Lives.

The initiative was a powerful demonstration of solidarity with the thousands of people who face the cold, dangerous, and isolating conditions of street homelessness each night. The experience offered students a small glimpse into the harsh realities experienced by the homeless population, helping to deepen their empathy and understanding.

The sleep-out aimed to highlight the critical work of Restart Lives, a charity committed to supporting homeless individuals on their journey towards stable and secure living conditions. The charity provides tailored support through casework and group programmes, helping people address challenges related to housing, employment, and health. Their mission is founded on the belief that everyone deserves the security and dignity of a safe home.

The Chairs of the NLCS charity committee, Canonaid, Imani, and Indie, expressed their thoughts, saying: ‘‘Although cold and wet, the Sleepout was a great opportunity to raise money and awareness for this fantastic cause, and to put in perspective the reality that homeless people experience on a day to day basis.’

We are incredibly proud of our students for their dedication to such a meaningful cause. To date, they have raised over £2,000 in support of Restart Lives!
