We were delighted to welcome Dr Meha Bhuva and Professor Alan Aylward to speak at the first Senior Societies of 2022.
Dr Bhuva is an ONL who went on to study medicine at University College London. Her career then led her on to becoming a speciality doctor in Gastroenterology with a focus on Hepatology and transplantation. Dr Bhuva is a member of the Royal College of Physicians on the European specialty register for Gastroenterology and Hepatology and has a Masters in medical education. During her talk, she spoke about the role of the liver in the human body, liver diseases and transplantation including the impact Covid-19 has had on transplants.
Professor Alan Aylward is a professor of Atmospheric Physics at UCL who has researched in a range of areas such as the Earth’s ionosphere and has also worked with the European Incoherent Scatter Radar Association. In Thursday’s talk, Professor Aylward spoke about how exoplanets are discovered, how many we know about and how we can tell their properties such as size, temperature and atmospheric conditions.
It was fantastic to start 2022 with two fantastic speakers who delivered informative and intriguing lectures.
