On Thursday students across the Senior School enjoyed workshops and talks all about healthy eating and nutrition.

The main hall was turned into a Ready Steady Cook style kitchen as students from Years 9 and 11 took part in an interactive healthy eating workshop. Before battle could commence in the kitchen, Chartwells chef Jarrod gave a talk on the key to a balanced diet, breaking down the key food groups before splitting the students into green and red teams to cook a meal containing all elements of the ‘Eatwell guide’.

With only 15 minutes to cook, both teams were given different recipes, one team were tasked with creating a fantastic sweet potato curry whilst the other team made a delicious veggie chilli burrito. All students had a chance to be chefs, reviewers and tasters before crowning their champion!

Years 7, 8, 12 and 13 students listened to a talk from Chartwells nutritionist, Marnie, about the importance of a healthy and balanced diet with a particular focus on energy. She also spoke about the positive impact a good diet can have on productivity and mental health as well as how all foods have different benefits both good and bad!

Many thanks to Chartwells for these fantastically informative and engaging sessions.
