North London Collegiate School has been named in the Spear’s Schools Indices 2026 as a top recommended school, joining a select group of schools recognised for their exceptional contribution to education worldwide.
Spear’s describes NLCS as “a provider of top-quality education to the daughters of British and international families.” Founded in 1850 by Frances Buss, NLCS has always been a pioneering centre of women’s education, and Spear’s acknowledges that “the independence and confidence instilled in a Collegiate girl is a reflection of its history.”
This recognition celebrates our girls who think deeply, question boldly and step beyond the expected. Every girl is encouraged to explore, to challenge and to pursue what truly matters to her. “NLCS girls frequently progress to the top universities and institutions around the world,” yet academic excellence is only part of the picture here. As Spear’s notes, “students are also challenged outside the classroom, and girls have the opportunity to take on leadership roles, embark on trips or join a variety of clubs, sports and societies.” It is the friendships formed, the leadership taken on, the interests discovered and the confidence built along the way that are just as much a part of who she becomes.
This recognition from Spear’s Magazine, alongside Thuso and an international panel of educational experts, reflects the strength of our community and the intelligence, warmth and individuality our girls bring to it every day.
