North London Collegiate School Wins STEM Award and Receives High Praise for Pastoral Care at Muddy Stilettos School Awards

These accolades reflect our enduring commitment to academic innovation and the holistic development of every student. They affirm our mission to create a forward-thinking learning environment where girls not only achieve academic excellence but also flourish personally and socially.

Highly Commended for Outstanding Pastoral Care

Alongside our success in STEM, NLCS was also highly commended in the category of Outstanding Pastoral Care. This recognition reflects our deep-rooted belief that a student’s emotional wellbeing is fundamental to their ability to thrive both in and out of the classroom.

Our pastoral care approach is grounded in the belief that every student should feel valued, supported, and equipped to navigate the complexities of modern life. This year, our enhanced framework has included initiatives such as:

  • The Cedar Space – a dedicated Wellbeing Centre offering counselling, mindfulness activities, and drop-in support.
  • Digital Wellbeing Workshops – helping students build healthy relationships with technology and social media.
  • Wellbeing and Themed Weeks – such as Kindness Week and Mental Health & Wellbeing Week, encouraging open conversations and reflection.
  • Peer mentoring and individualised support, ensuring every student has a trusted point of contact and tailored guidance.
  • Partnerships with experts including Tooled Up Education and Girls on Board, enriching our support for students, parents, and staff alike.

Our approach is both proactive and responsive, adapting to the evolving needs of students while creating a culture of openness and community.

Excellence in STEM

This award win recognises the transformative work we have done to embed artificial intelligence, robotics, and STEAM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Arts and Mathematics) across the curriculum. These initiatives are designed not just to teach technical skills, but to foster critical thinking, creativity and ethical understanding preparing students to be leaders in an increasingly digital world.

Highlights of our technology programme include the AI Driving Licence (TM), which enables students to explore the real-world implications and ethical considerations of artificial intelligence, and STEAM Week, where students collaborate on ambitious design projects involving robotics, 3D modelling and digital simulation. Our VEX Robotics team, NLCS_Probots, achieved exceptional success by being named UK National Champions and competing at the VEX Robotics World Championships, demonstrating the technical expertise and innovation of our students on a global stage.

Our commitment also extends beyond our own community. Through the Eureka Schools Programme, we’ve shared our AI, robotics and engineering workshops with schools nationwide — helping to broaden access to future-facing education and inspire the next generation of innovators.

These two areas of recognition, excellence in STEM and outstanding pastoral care highlight our holistic vision at NLCS. We are proud to offer an environment where students are encouraged to think independently, explore their passions, and grow in confidence, knowing they are supported every step of the way.

This recognition serves as an affirmation of the dedication and creativity of our entire school community, and we look forward to building on this success as we continue to innovate, inspire and care.

We are also delighted to have been shortlisted for Independent Girls’ School of the Year at the upcoming Independent School of the Year awards, with results to be announced later in the year.
