We are delighted to celebrate the exceptional achievement of Year 11 student Sujena, who achieved one of the highest scores nationwide in the Intermediate Physics Challenge, a prestigious competition run by the British Physics Olympiad (BPhO) at the University of Oxford.

Her outstanding performance earned her a Gold Certificate and an invitation to the BPhO awards ceremony at The Royal Society in London on Friday 2 May. There, Sujena was honoured alongside the top achievers in the country. As one of only a small number of girls recognised at this event, Sujena’s success is a powerful reminder of the importance of representation and encouragement in STEM.

Reflecting on the day, Sujena said:

“It was a wonderful day as I was lucky to meet leading representatives of institutes such as G-research and prominent professors from Oxford and Cambridge. I was awarded a Gold Certificate, and a book prize, alongside a fascinating construction kit to make a transegrity table. I was very proud to be one of the few girls, let alone of the top-performing students to be invited to this event, and I am forever indebted to NLCS for inspiring girls like me to pave their path with confidence, strength, and fearlessness.”

We are incredibly proud of Sujena and look forward to watching her continued journey in the sciences. She is truly making waves in physics.
