It has been a busy and exciting week for our Music Department with two lunchtime concerts as well as a number of music masterclasses.
On Monday and Friday, we were treated to two fabulous lunchtime concerts by students in our Sixth Form. We heard pieces ranging from Ysaye to Wieniawski on a variety of instruments including violin, flute and saxophone. It is always a joy to listen to our students play in more intimate concerts against the backdrop of the Drummond room and a wonderful way to spend lunchtime.
Over this week there have also been a number of music masterclasses for our pupils to enjoy. Michael Dussek an expert in chamber music, who after listening to our students perform offered some exceptional coaching and insights to our young musicians which left them feeling truly inspired. We were also extremely fortunate to welcome acclaimed clarinettist Anthony Pike who offered fantastic tips to our music scholars during an entertaining session.
