This half term, NLCS was delighted to welcome students and staff from Goethe-Gymnasium Ludwigsburg for the 76th Ludwigsburg Exchange, the first proper visit since the pandemic.
It was wonderful to see the partnership reignited, fostering friendships, cultural exchange, and shared learning between our two schools.
The visit began and ended with shadowing in school, allowing our German guests to experience life at NLCS and our students to learn more about the German education system. From Monday to Friday, the programme was a vibrant mix of academic and cultural experiences. Between Tuesday and Thursday, students explored London’s iconic landmarks, including Buckingham Palace, the Houses of Parliament, St Paul’s Cathedral, Tower Bridge, London Borough Market, Tate Modern, the National Gallery, Trafalgar Square, Piccadilly Circus, Covent Garden, and Chinatown — a packed itinerary that combined history, culture, and fun.
Social connections were also at the heart of the exchange. On Sunday, all students gathered for a relaxed evening at a local pizza restaurant, sharing stories, laughs, and memories. The teachers’ programme added another fascinating layer: hosting each other at home allowed for long discussions over dinner, fostering professional exchange and friendships that benefit both schools.
The Ludwigsburg Exchange remains a cherished tradition, bringing our students and staff closer to global perspectives, building confidence, and creating lifelong connections.
