In Junior School, the Autumn Term has been filled with joy and music. From the First School Play and the Year 5 Music for Youth Proms to the Lower School Winter Concert, the Nativity Play, and the Canons Choir performance at the Royal Albert Hall, it has been a vibrant celebration of creativity and talent.
The Winter Concert was a magical evening of festive music and joyful performances. The night opened with the lively Percussion Ensemble leading The NLCS Express, joined by the orchestra and the whole school, setting an exciting tone for the celebration. Adding charm and playfulness, the Year 3 & 4 Choir and Year 5&6 Choir delighted everyone with the humorous I Want a Hippopotamus for Christmas and The Man with the Bag. The Canons Choir captivated the audience with a stunning rendition of Flight Song showcasing beautiful harmonies and expressive singing. Instrumental highlights included the elegant Flute Trio performing Troika from Lieutenant Kijé and the Brass Ensemble spreading festive cheer with Deck the Halls and Jingle Bells. The evening concluded with the whole school joining together for Winter’s in the Air leaving the audience uplifted and full of seasonal spirit.
The girls from Year 6 and Year 7 in the 2024–2025 Canons Choir cohort sang at the sold-out Barnardo’s Young Supporters Concert at the Royal Albert Hall, having won the national Junior Choir of the Year competition for the third consecutive year. It was a spellbinding performance and a truly remarkable experience for our girls, performing alongside 900 children and the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra. It has created memories that will stay with them for years to come.
With the twinkling stars of the Nativity in the final week, another layer of magic was added to this special time of year.
