This term, the Junior School enthusiastically supported Breakthrough T1D (formerly known as JDRF) as its chosen charity. The girls were thrilled to get involved and showed incredible generosity and commitment to raising funds for this vital cause.

We were fortunate to welcome several inspiring speakers, including Jamie and his medical assistance dog, Richmond. The girls were captivated by Richmond’s remarkable ability to detect drops in Jamie’s blood sugar levels, potentially saving his life. They were equally inspired by Mahi, a fantastic Senior School speaker who spoke with confidence and passion about the importance of supporting those living with diabetes.

One of the highlights of the term was our non-uniform day, “Wear It Won-derful.” On this special day, the girls came to school dressed in outfits that made them feel wonderful. Everyone was so excited, and the creativity and effort put into their outfits were truly amazing. Each girl brought in a donation for the charity, adding to the funds raised while celebrating self-expression and positivity. Our fundraising events also included the ‘One Walk’, a charity walk which brought the whole school community together. Despite the rainy weather, the sun shone brightly for the walk itself, and the camaraderie and community spirit were palpable. The girls walked around the school grounds with great enthusiasm and enjoyed a well-deserved sugary treat at the finish line.

The Junior School Cookery Club contributed with a delicious bake sale, featuring muffins, biscuits, and other sweet treats that everyone loved. The girls worked closely with the School Council to weigh, bake, and sell their creations, raising additional funds while spreading joy.

Other highlights included class collections held weekly, generous donations at the Junior School Winter Concert, and proceeds from the Parents’ Guild Christmas Fair. To round off the term, the girls participated in the Children’s Book Project, donating pre-loved books in good condition to families in need. We set ourselves the target of 500 book donations – two for every child at the Junior School – but in the end, we were able to collect over 850! These books will go direct to the charity’s base in London, W10, and after that to lots of deserving schools, families and children right the way around the country.

Thanks to the tremendous support of the school community, we have raised a significant amount for T1D Diabetes. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated, donated, and made this term’s charity efforts so successful!
