As we begin a new term, we’d like to extend our heartfelt thanks to our outgoing Big Six for their dedication, enthusiasm, and the positive example they’ve set throughout the year.

Their contributions have made a lasting impact on our school community, and we are incredibly grateful for all they’ve achieved.

We’re now proud to introduce our new Senior Committee of Katie (Senior Student), Clemmie (Sports Captain), Wenru, Dharshini, Kinitoke and Leila who will be stepping into their roles with fresh ideas and great enthusiasm. We’re excited to see the positive influence they will have in the year ahead. Find out more about the new Big Six below and join us in welcoming them to their new positions!

Hi everyone, I’m Katie and I can’t wait to be your senior student! I love the close knit community at NLCS because everyone looks out for one another and gets involved in all of the opportunities here. This year I have especially loved playing in a student-led flute quintet, taking part in the school panto as Prince Charming and attending science cafés. I also really enjoy spending time outdoors, whether it be camping with my family, going on walks with my friends, or playing sports. I hope to become a doctor and I take the IB, which I really enjoy because as well as studying science and maths I can also study English and philosophy.

Recently, I have been getting back into reading, as a part of a Sixth form book club, where we are reading through the longlist of the women’s prize for fiction. My favourite book right now is Half a Yellow Sun by Chimamanda Ngozi Adiche, but it’s always changing. I am really excited to start working with the whole school community.

Hi, I’m Clemmie and I am incredibly excited to be stepping into the role of Sports Captain this year. Sport has always been a big part of my life, and I’m really looking forward to combining that passion with my commitment to the school community. Currently, I study Russian, Italian and Politics, and hope to pursue Modern Languages at university next year. Netball is my main sport, and as a member of the school’s senior team, one of my fondest memories was winning the Under 19 Middlesex County tournament with my teammates last season.

Outside of netball, I love watching and playing a range of sports — especially gymnastics, football and trampolining. I also enjoy spending time with my family and friends, and following my favourite football team, Liverpool. I love listening to a range of music, especially R&B, including artists like SZA and Frank Ocean. I’m really excited for the year ahead as part of the Big Six and can’t wait to see the sporting culture at NLCS continue to grow and thrive!

Hi everyone, I’m Wenru and I’m so excited to be one of your Big Six members this year! I am studying Maths, Biology, Chemistry and Latin A-Level and I hope to study Biochemistry at university. I love getting involved in all areas of school life, from participating in concerts and productions to writing for various magazines and attending science-related societies. I enjoy playing badminton and water polo, and this year I have also had the opportunity to run a Latin club at a local primary school. Music has always been a huge part of my life and alongside making music in school, I spend my Saturdays at the Royal College of Music where I get to explore my passion even further.

Outside of school, I love spending time with friends and listening to music: some of my top artists are SZA and Noah Kahan (and Beethoven of course). I am so looking forward to getting to know you all and can’t wait for the year ahead!

Hi everyone, I’m Kinitoke and I’m really looking forward to being in the Big Six this year! I currently take Maths, Economics, Politics and Spanish A-Levels and I am interested in studying Social and Political Sciences at university. I really enjoy involving myself in various areas of school life such as writing for publications like ‘The Linguist’ and being part of a Young Enterprise team. Volunteering is also something I enjoy as I’ve spent over a year helping out at my local library and recently had the opportunity to participate in weekly care home visits with some of my classmates. During my time at NLCS, I’ve had fun taking part in various sports, my favourite being athletics.

Outside of school, I love hanging out with my friends and family, cooking new foods and listening to all types of music – some of my top artists are Raye, FLO and Dave. I can’t wait to get to know you all and make this year as enjoyable as possible!

Hi everyone, I’m Leila and I am so excited to be a member of the Big Six this year! I am taking Maths, Further Maths, Physics and Chemistry A Levels and I hope to study Mechanical Engineering at university. I love to immerse myself in all aspects of school life, such as attending lectures given at Science Café each week and participating in F1inSchools. As well as taking part in activities related to my studies, such as co-editing our school science magazine, Scientia, I am really passionate about music. I play the saxophone and clarinet, and I am a member of seven different music ensembles at NLCS, ranging from a chamber music trio to the orchestra, and this allows me to connect with students across different year groups.

Outside of school, I enjoy following Formula One and one of my favourite hobbies is skiing. I have been at NLCS since I was four years old and one of my favourite memories has been going on the school ski trip in Year 10. I can’t wait to get to know everyone in the school community and I am looking forward to the year ahead!

Hi everyone, I’m Dharshini and I am so excited to be part of the Big Six this year! I take Maths, Economics and Politics and hope to study Economics and Politics at university. Outside of class, I really love taking part in many aspects of school, from running the News Canon to taking part in plays like Model Behaviour. Throughout school, I have had the amazing opportunity to be part of many different sports teams, my favourite being netball. However, my main passion is writing, whether that is writing articles for The Politician or co-writing a murder mystery play with my friend.

Outside of school I love to relax and watch my favourite TV series ‘Modern Family’ or go on walks with my dog. I can’t wait to get to know you and am so excited for this year!
