A visit from the RAF Museum gave Year 3 pupils the chance to reflect on the women who inspire them most, and to make sure their stories are not forgotten.

Sonia Picker from the RAF Museum came into school to lead a workshop with Year 3 on the theme of Inspirational Women. Drawing on the museum’s rich collection of stories, Sonia highlighted the remarkable but often overlooked contributions of women whose legacies have too frequently been lost over time.

The session encouraged pupils to think about the women who inspire them in their own lives. The girls shared their personal stories with enthusiasm, celebrating mothers, grandmothers, teachers and heroes both well known and unsung.

A key message of the workshop was the importance of keeping these stories alive. Too many women throughout history have made extraordinary contributions that were never recorded or have since faded from memory. Year 3 left the session with a real sense of purpose, keen to become the storytellers and guardians of the women who matter most to them.
