Greek Day

7 May 2026

Our Year 4 students were transported to Ancient Athens in 490BC.

In the morning, they took on typical roles found in the Athenian agora (marketplace) at the time.
They served as wax tablet and mosaic makers, pottery painters and jewellers, offering their creations to the gods. As they worked, news and rumours swirled through the agora about Persia invading Greece and reaching nearby Marathon. Could the Persians be defeated? Was Athens safe? The news that the Greeks were victorious was celebrated and the children marked the occasion with a feast in the afternoon, and performances of dance and theatre!
