It has been a remarkable summer for sport at NLCS, with students achieving success at county, regional and national level across a range of disciplines.
Cricket
It has been a standout summer for cricket at NLCS, with strong participation across all year groups and impressive performances in both friendly fixtures and cup competitions. Many pupils experienced competitive cricket for the first time, while school teams enjoyed success on the county and national stage.
The U13 team secured a place in the Middlesex County Cup final, which will be played in September, while the U15 side reached the last 16 of the National Cup. The season’s headline achievement came from the U19 team, who were crowned 2026 Middlesex County Cup Champions.
Among the season’s standout individual performances were an unbeaten half-century from Aleena in the County Cup semi-final against Mill Hill, and consecutive half-centuries from Shreya in National Cup fixtures against Notting Hill and Ealing High School and South Hampstead High School.
Tennis
NLCS enjoyed an exceptional tennis season, highlighted by county titles, national success and strong performances across multiple age groups.
The Year 9 and 10 Division 1 team were crowned Middlesex County Champions, defeating Lady Eleanor Holles in the final. Their success means they will now represent Middlesex in the regional knockout stages next term.
The U14 team reached the Regional Final of the National School Sports Magazine Cup, narrowly losing to eventual national champions Putney High. The result placed NLCS among the top eight school teams in the country.
The Year 9 and 10 Division 2 team also enjoyed an unbeaten league campaign and will progress to the county finals next term.
The term concluded with the prestigious Pamela Flower Finals. The tournament commemorates former NLCS pupil Pamela Flower, who served as Games Captain and tragically lost her life during the Second World War while in her final year at school. In her memory, the Pamela Flower Trophy is awarded annually to the singles champion.
This year’s singles final produced a thrilling contest between Theresa in Year 8 and a Yoyo in Year 7. After a two-and-a-half-hour, three-set battle, Yoyo triumphed 2–6, 6–3, 10–7.
The doubles finals also provided high-quality tennis, with Lucy and Maya battling out with Jessie and Aurelia with the latter triumphing in straight sets.
Athletics
The athletics programme enjoyed one of its most successful seasons in recent years, with both team and individual achievements to celebrate.
The Junior team qualified for the regional round of the Track and Field Cup with one of the highest scores recorded nationally and went on to finish an impressive third in the Regional Final, narrowly missing out on qualification for the National Finals.
The Intermediate team also performed strongly, securing a place in the Regional B Final.
Individual athletes continued to excel, with thirteen selected to represent Harrow at the Middlesex Championships and five progressing to represent Middlesex at the Inter-County Championships. One athlete has already qualified for this month’s English Schools Championships, while another qualification remains pending.
The school’s athletics awards were presented to Emerson for the Jumping Cup and Nilou for the Running Cup.
Gymnastics and Cheerleading
More than 100 pupils from Years 3 to 12 took part in this year’s Gymnastics and Cheerleading Showcase on 22 June, bringing together months of hard work and preparation.
The end-of-year display was a resounding success, with participants demonstrating creativity, teamwork and dedication through a series of polished routines.
Dance
The summer term also brought success on the dance floor, as NLCS claimed first place in the NLCS Dance Competition.
Competing against eight other schools, the dancers impressed judges with their commitment, skill and performance quality. Their victory was a fitting reward for months of hard work and a proud achievement for the school’s thriving dance programme.
Sports Day
The summer’s sporting celebrations culminated in a memorable Sports Day 2026, which showcased outstanding athletic performances, spirited house competition and tremendous support from pupils across the school.The event saw every house competing fiercely for points, with athletes delivering impressive performances throughout the day and students creating some of the most creative and eye-catching house signage seen in recent years.
Kalpana claimed the Year 7 and 8 trophy, while Endeavour emerged victorious in the Year 9 and 10 competition. However, after all the points had been counted, it was Jemison that once again stood on top, successfully defending its title to become overall Sports Day Champions for the second consecutive year.
With Jemison establishing itself as the house to beat, attention has already turned to next year’s competition, where rival houses will be eager to challenge for the crown.
