175th Anniversary Founder’s Day – March 25-253

On Friday 21st March, we celebrated the 175th anniversary of NLCS at St. Paul’s Cathedral, marking a significant milestone in the school’s history.

The Founder’s Day service, an annual highlight for the whole school community, honoured the legacy of Frances Mary Buss, who founded the school in 1850, and highlighted our continued focus on educational excellence and innovation.

The service began at 11am, with the traditional daffodil procession led by our sixth-form students – a moment that’s become a key part of Founder’s Day. The programme included performances from the school orchestra, both the senior and junior choirs, and a solo rendition of Where’er You Walk by Miss James, alongside a wonderful address from Canon Dr Paula Gooder, reflecting on the spirit of NLCS and the legacy of our Founder.

The Headmistress and the Big Six also led the prayers of commemoration and intercession, taking a moment to remember those who have shaped our school’s past and those who continue to make a difference today.

This year’s service is part of the long-standing tradition of Founder’s Day celebrations at St. Paul’s Cathedral, a venue closely tied to the school’s milestones.

We were also thrilled to have so many people join us virtually via our live stream. A heartfelt thank you to everyone who tuned in and helped make this special occasion even more memorable.
