The First School Mixer Day was a tremendous success! The girls were placed into mixed-age teams and, throughout the day, took on the role of trainee spies for The Noble League of Clandestine Spies. Working collaboratively across Reception, Year 1 and Year 2, they tackled a series of exciting STEAM challenges designed to develop teamwork, communication, creativity and problem-solving.
The day began with an emergency briefing after the League was compromised, before the trainee spies set off to complete their missions. Reception became Robot Spy Training in the Ideas Hub, where the girls programmed robots to navigate obstacle courses, avoid enemy spies, travel beneath laser tunnels and deliver confidential intelligence. Year 1 tested their logical thinking through a series of code-breaking challenges, while Year 2 put their navigation and collaboration skills to the test with an orienteering mission across the school grounds, collecting clues and solving problems together.
The excitement culminated in a whole First School assembly, where the trainee spies combined their discoveries to crack one final challenge. The atmosphere throughout the day was electric. The girls fully embraced their spy roles, showing exceptional enthusiasm, resilience and collaboration as they worked together to overcome each mission. It was particularly wonderful to see the Ideas Hub being used as a shared learning space, bringing the First School together for such an immersive and memorable experience. From the moment the security breach was announced to the final mission being solved, the girls demonstrated curiosity, determination and outstanding teamwork, making it a truly unforgettable day.
