Our girls swapped the classroom for the outdoors, exploring the school grounds through art, science and some very competitive leaf raft building.

Working in mixed-year groups, the girls moved through a carousel of activities that wove together scientific thinking and artistic expression. They began by venturing across the grounds to source natural materials, observing the environment closely and discovering what nature had to offer just beyond their classroom doors.

Inspired by the daffodils in bloom around them, the girls translated what they saw into art, crafting their own daffodil creations with care and imagination. Nearby, budding scientists got to work on a water filtration challenge, designing and building their own filters to investigate how different materials can remove impurities from water. It was a simple but powerful introduction to a process with real-world significance.

The highlight for many was the leaf raft challenge, where the girls designed and built their own rafts before floating them on the water. With plenty of laughter and a good deal of problem-solving, they tested their ideas, refined their designs and cheered each other on.

It was a fantastic day of teamwork and hands-on learning, and a wonderful reminder of just how much can be discovered when you step outside.
