We are pleased to report on a truly remarkable pair of results at the ‘Wallace Girls’ Schools Chess Tournament’, held at South Hampstead Junior School.
In a nail-bitingly tense series of matches, the Years 4 – 6 team were able to hold their nerve, eventually securing gold with a brilliant 11 wins in 12 games.
The team event for Years 1 – 3 was even more dramatic, and in the end, went to the very last game… In a remarkable display of grit and determination, the team finally prevailed, with a very creditable 15.5 points from a possible 20.
Huge congratulations to Dora , Tara, Mei, Irene, Pranika, Ellabee, Freya and Ari. Each received a medal and a – very impressive! – team trophy for the school, and they fully deserved their peers’ respect and acclaim when we presented these in our Celebration.
Thank you to Miss D’Costa and Mr Dave, who prepared and supervised the girls, and well done again to our Junior chess–superstars – a real statement of intent from NLCS Chess, with lots more to come in 2025!
