The Junior School marked Children’s Mental Health Week with a series of activities designed to support pupils’ wellbeing and strengthen connections across year groups.
From hands-on workshops to assemblies, the week gave students practical ways to care for their mental health and look out for one another.
With the help of Mrs Weisgard, the year 6 wellbeing ambassadors Saffron and Sinya led two workshops for pupils in Years 5 and 6 and in Years 3 and 4. In each session, students made friendship bracelets together, taking time to focus, create and share the experience. The activity encouraged collaboration and reflection while offering a simple, enjoyable way to connect with classmates.
The students were excited to show Mrs Freeman how to make bracelets when she joined the Year 3 and 4 workshops, adding extra laughter and creativity to the session.
In addition to the workshops, Mr Harrison led two assemblies on Safer Internet. Pupils learned how to make safe and responsible choices online and how their digital habits can affect their wellbeing. The assemblies reinforced the connection between online safety and overall mental health, offering students practical strategies they can use in their daily lives.
Children’s Mental Health Week at NLCS Junior School highlighted the school’s commitment to nurturing emotional resilience alongside academic growth. The week offered pupils opportunities to reflect, work together and develop positive habits that support their wellbeing throughout the year.
