As NLCS begins its celebrations for the 175 anniversary, we were excited to begin the academic year with a 50-year reunion celebration for the Class of 1974.
Despite the grey skies, the afternoon was brightened by the laughter and energy of lifelong friendships that have stood the test of time. Many had travelled from near and far, and could not fathom how five decades had passed since they left school, with some returning for the first time.
Led by enthusiastic Year 9 students, the ONLs were taken on a guided tour of the school, walking through familiar haunts like the Herbaceous Border and Lime Avenue, and exploring new additions such as the Performing Arts Centre and the Ideas Hub. This allowed ONLs to revisit cherished corners of the school while admiring the new and exciting changes. The tours sparked stories (including classroom antics!), transporting them back to their school days.
An archive display and photos from the 40-year reunion offered more opportunities to reminisce. Some ONLs also took part in a special recording session, sharing their memories on film as part of the ‘175 Moments’, to be revealed later this year.
Headmistress, Mrs Vicky Bingham warmly welcomed the Class of 1974 over afternoon tea and shared key highlights from the school, including the celebration of the 75th anniversary of the NLCS Ludwigsburg Exchange. Two guests recollected participating in the same trip during their time at school.
The afternoon was a perfect opportunity for the ONLs to share stories and reflect on their time at NLCS. A sincere thank you to everyone who attended, and to the staff whose efforts made the day so special!
