CASUAL CLOTHES FOR A CAUSE: NLCS CELEBRATES HARVEST WITH A FOOD DRIVE

Senior School students celebrated the Harvest Festival this year by donating essential items to support local communities, combining classroom reflection with meaningful collective action.

In an effort to directly address food poverty across London, families throughout the school donated a remarkably generous range of non-perishable food and household items.

The response from the NLCS community was outstanding. In exchange for wearing casual clothes for the day, students filled collection points with essential supplies. Thanks to this school-wide generosity, NLCS successfully collected over 25 crates of donations, surpassing last year’s total by five full crates.
An endeavour of this scale required immense coordination. A special mention goes to the dedicated student volunteers who organised the inventory by category, ensuring the collection was managed efficiently. The Estates team also provided invaluable support, working hard behind the scenes to transport the massive volume of goods to the collection vehicles.

All donations were safely handed over to Food Bank Aid, a grassroots charity that delivers supplies to a network of 33 food banks supporting roughly 20,000 people each week. In a message to the school, the charity expressed deep gratitude, noting that the contributions would quickly be sorted and delivered directly to families navigating severe financial hardship. The event served as a powerful reminder that small, individual actions can build a massive community impact.
