Lacrosse: The lacrosse teams had a fantastic term, competing in numerous matches and tournaments. The 1st team claimed victory in the Greater London Indoor tournament in November, while the U12A team has remained undefeated all season. Additionally, 12 students were selected for the South-East Supercounty teams. The next term promises to be busy, with matches against LEH, Bedford, St Albans High, and Heathfield, as well as the National Schools tournament in March.
Cross Country: With 40 students eager to compete, cross-country has had a strong start. The Intermediate and Senior teams qualified for the ESAA Regional Final, with seven runners achieving top 10 finishes. The Intermediate team also placed 3rd in the 10 Schools Invitational. Upcoming competitions include the Harrow and Middlesex events in the New Year.
Skiing: At the British Indoor Ski Championships in Milton Keynes, 15 students across five teams delivered impressive performances. Preparations are underway for the British Schoolgirls’ Races in Flaine next term.
Netball: It has been a historic term for netball. The Year 7 A team and U15 team both reached the National Plate quarter-finals, while the U16 team progressed to the second round. The Senior team made it to the last 16 of the National Cup and achieved a milestone by defeating Millfield for the first time, finishing 3rd in the Independent Schools League Tournament. Several players earned individual honours, with Jeslyn selected for the London Mavericks U17 National Performance League and three others receiving county-level recognition.
Badminton: The U15, U16, and U19 badminton teams remain unbeaten, with an impressive 80%-win rate across all competitions. The U14 and U16 teams will compete in the National Cup semi-finals next term. NLCS also secured three silver and bronze medals in the Herts and Middlesex League Tournaments.
Football: A promising start for the school’s football programme saw strong participation from Year 7 students. Teams competed in tournaments and fixtures, with notable performances from U15 and U16 players against Heartland High School.
Cricket: Despite wet weather, students across year groups continued to develop their skills during after-school net practices. The U18 team competed in the MCC Indoor Competitions, finishing joint second. Preparations are ongoing for further matches at Lords in the New Year.
Dance, Cheer, and Gymnastics: The artistic sports teams have had an active term. The Senior Gym Squad is training for showcases and competitions, while the U13 and U15 teams competed in the ISGA qualifiers. The U14 team is preparing for the BSGA event in January. The Cheer Squad, with 35 members, is gearing up for their December competition. Dance squads across all age groups are rehearsing for events like the annual Dance Display and “The Great Big Dance Off.”
With so many accomplishments this term, NLCS students look forward to building on their success in the New Year.
