Maison Claire Fontaine was the ideal setting for Year 6’s action-packed residential trip, featuring circus skills, tree-top challenges, archery triumphs and impressive progress in French.
Throughout the week, the girls took part in a wide range of activities that helped them build confidence, develop new skills, and immerse themselves in French language and culture.
Among the highlights were learning circus skills, which included practising balance, coordination, and teamwork in a fun and supportive setting. The tree adventure challenged many to step outside their comfort zones, climbing and navigating obstacles high among the trees. The group also enjoyed a visit to the beautiful town of Vézelay, known for its stunning views and historic charm, offering a peaceful moment to explore and take in the local atmosphere.
An archery competition added a fun, competitive edge to the week, with many showing impressive focus and determination. Language learning remained central to the trip, and the dedicated tutors at MCF once again supported the girls in making rapid progress in French through engaging lessons and interactive sessions.
Later in the week, a trip to a nearby market gave the girls the opportunity to put their French into practice. They chatted with stallholders, made purchases, and used what they had learned to help prepare a group lunch .
In between the structured activities, there was plenty of time to enjoy the sunshine at the centre. The girls made the most of the good weather, relaxed outdoors, and enjoyed the welcoming environment. Mealtimes were a daily highlight thanks to the delicious food, and the week ended on a high note with the always-popular disco.
Reflecting on the trip, Mr Brown says: “It was a fantastic trip, full of learning, laughter, and new experiences. We’re already looking forward to returning to MCF next year.”
