With sun on their backs and plenty of team spirit, our Junior School girls have embraced the season’s sporting challenges; from cricket festivals to national swimming finals, and a brand-new tennis tournament bringing out their competitive best.
This term marked the vibrant start of summer sports for our Junior School girls. With enthusiasm and energy, the students have embraced a variety of activities across the season.
Our Year 3 and Year 5 girls took part in cricket festivals alongside other local schools. These events provided valuable opportunities to develop their skills, enjoy friendly competition, and celebrate teamwork and sportsmanship. Year 4 also stepped onto the cricket pitch for a lively fixture, showcasing some excellent batting and fielding.
Meanwhile, our swimming squad has been working hard in preparation for the upcoming IAPS finals. The Year 5 team will proudly represent the school in both the freestyle and medley relays, demonstrating their strength and coordination in the pool. We’re also delighted that two swimmers have qualified individually in the butterfly event for their respective age categories: a fantastic accomplishment. Adding to the excitement, four girls will be travelling to Sheffield to compete in the English Schools Swimming Association Primary Team Championship Finals. Both competitions offer our swimmers the chance to perform on a national stage, and we wish them every success as they take on these exciting challenges.
This term has also seen the launch of our first annual tennis competition for Years 3/4 and Years 5/6. The girls have been learning the correct scoring system and are now putting their skills into action in a knockout-style tournament. There’s been great focus on friendly rivalry, and lots of fantastic rallies on court. We’re excited to see how the competition unfolds – good luck to all our players!
