Kindness Week

Kindness for Web

As we continue to learn of the devasting attacks on Ukraine and the displacement of its people, it has been most humbling to see the small acts of kindness shown by communities offering support and solidarity. At NLCS, we have been hosting our own Kindness Week with activities highlighting the different ways we can be kind to each other, ourselves, and those in need.

Kindness Week is an important part of the annual NLCS calendar. Although some of the events that take place might seem small or insignificant, so is the nature of kindness. Kindness does not have to be a huge act of sacrifice; as we all know, something as simple as a smile has the power to brighten someone’s day. In this spirit, NLCS students have undertaken small yet significant acts of kindness throughout the week.

Students took part in meditation and mindfulness sessions, donated food and sanitary items to a local foodbank, held collections to support the refugee crisis in eastern Europe, and hosted a charity bake sale.

Our school caterers, Chartwells, hosted a fun ‘Ready steady Cook’ and nutritional workshop highlighting the importance of healthy eating to our mental health and wellbeing.

In form times, students made Kindness bookmarks that they shared with their friends, and heartfelt messages from students and staff were left on our Kindness Wall. Our librarians created suggestions for reading on the theme of kindness which provided some inspiring reads for us all.

Kindness has always been at the core of NLCS, but now more than ever, we have learned just how important being kind to one another and oneself truly is. Small acts of kindness bring us together as a whole community.

Thank you to everyone for such an enjoyable week at NLCS.
