Pioneering Women's Education for 150 Years
North London Collegiate is regarded as the pioneer of women's education among England's schools. Founded in 1850 to give girls an educaton "equal to that of their brothers", the school has always educated pupils in an ambitious and scholarly way, whilst offering a vast range of extra-curricular activities.
Located in the former home of the Duke of Chandos, pupils enjoy stunning surroundings including acres of playing fields. The founder, Frances Mary Buss, was headmistress for 44 years and was a notable figure in the struggle for the education of women in the second half of the nineteenth century.
Since 2005, girls have the choice of studying A Levels or the International Baccalaureate Diploma in the Sixth Form.
