The Department has four fulltime members of staff.
Mr Lawrence Haigh - Director of Music: BMUS Hons Edinburgh University; Post Graduate studies in trumpet at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music; PGCE at Homerton College, Cambridge. Studied Composition and Harmony and Counterpoint with Professor Kenneth Leighton, Head of Music at the City of Ely Community College, 1988. Assistant Director of Music at North London Collegiate School from 1991 and Director of Music from 2003.
Miss Cassandra White - Director of Music, Junior School: BA(Hons), MMus, MMP Guildhall Artist Cassandra White studied at the Purcell School for two years under the Government Aided Music and Dance Scheme, before embarking on her undergraduate degree at the Royal Scottish Academy of Music and Drama. She subsequently went on to complete her post-graduate study at Guildhall School of Music and Drama studying singing with Professor Susan McCulloch FGSM ARCM, graduating with a MMus and MMP Guildhall Artist.
Cassandra has performed extensively as an oratorio soloist and recitalist and has performed many roles in opera excerpts at the Royal Albert Hall amongst other concert venues in the UK and Europe. Cassandra returned to the Purcell School as a singing teacher in 2004, subsequently taking an additional teaching post at St George's School, Windsor Castle. She was appointed Director of Music at Haresfoot Preparatory School in 2008 and as a Choral Director at Berkhamsted School in 2010. She joined us as Director of Junior School Music at NLCS in September 2011.
Mr David Lawrence - Class Music Teacher and Piano Teacher: BMus London, LRAM piano teaching, ARCM in piano accompaniment. Rehearsal pianist for the LPO. Head of Department at Peterborough and St. Margaret's School 1993.
Mr Steven Berryman - Assistant Director of Music : BMus (Hons) Cardiff University; MMus Advanced Musical in Studies, Royal Holloway (London); Studied composition with Simon Holt and Phillip Cashian; Fellow of the Royal Society of Art. Currently pursuing a PhD in Composition with Anthony Powers and Judith Weir (Old North Londoner) at Cardiff University. Assistant Director of Music at Clayesmore School 2004, and Assistant Director of Music at North London Collegiate School since January 2009
